HYCOOL – Newsletter #4

Our main objective during this year has been to commission and start producing solar energy for the services planned as the project’ objectives in the HYCOOL pilot sites. The results that have been reached at both demonstration sites, Givaudan and Bo de Debò are now under collection, analysis and delivery to assess the real benefits of the project on the environmental impacts reduction and efficient energy use.

HyCool “Market Watch” Newsletter

R2M has published the fifth HyCool “Market Watch” Newsletter. R2M continuously communicates on the most relevant entries, events and information via the “Market Watch Newsletter”. This fifth edition was issued in Q1 2022 and features:

  • Project dissemination actions (and a call to action regarding stakeholder engagement)
  • Sister European project spotlight (with a focus on three open projects)

Exploitable results:

  • ER-1) HyCool Pre-Feasibility Simulator Open-Source Online Software (R2M/JER)
  • ER-9) HyCool innovative technologies and environmental benefit Knowledge (CTEC)
  • ER-14) HyCool Training Courses and Webinars Knowledge (AIT/EMPA)

HYCOOL – Newsletter #3

Let’s take a look at what our project has been reaching in 2021!

Our main objective during the past year was to start the installation and commissioning tasks in the HYCOOL pilot sites. After COVID19 breakout, we got it! We were focused on: ending the civil works, which have been completed at both demo sites, Givaudan and Bo de Debò. The technical rooms and required infrastructure to house the equipment and the HYCOOL systems where completed, making possible to start the installation and commissioning stages which were performed in the second half of 2021.

ECOTHERM Solar Steam

Ecotherm is supplying the key technology components for a direct steam generating solar system at Givaudan production site in San Celoni near Barcelona. The 800m² of solar mirrors will concentrate the sun onto a receiver and directly generate steam. The steam drum provided by Ecotherm in combination with a control system ensures constant pressure and temperature (25bar, 225 °C) of the generated solar steam which is then fed into the existing steam network of the plant. This reduces the gas consumption of the existing boiler, saves money, and reduces the carbon footprint.

HYCOOL – Newsletter #2

Our main objective for this past year was to finish the designs and obtain the permits needed to start installing the HyCool solution at our demo sites. And we did it! We then took the next step: starting the demonstration activities! During December, the first delivery of equipment arrived from Austria to Spain: Fahrenheit sent the first part of the heat pump system that will be installed and Ecotherm sent the Solar Panel parts that will assembled and delivered to the demo sites early 2021. The technical rooms and required infrastructure to house the equipment where also completed at both Givaudan and Bo de Debó. Thus, we have taken significant steps to start the installation and commissioning stages which will kick-of this 2021.
